HI, I AM JOHNNY GUAMANQUISPE

Who I am?

I am currently a Data Engineer with a focus on Data Science analytics and a front-end/back-end Tableau Developer for one of the top telecommunications companies.

I started my humble journey in technology about 15+ years ago.  I have gained vast experience throughout the years in many areas of the tech industry.  First, I started as a QA Tester right after graduating high school.  As a tester, I learned to create test cases, automate testing procedures, and document bugs for HTML/CSS/Javascript-powered websites.  Then, after graduating from college with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and a Minor in Computer Science.  I started working as a junior developer and have gained experience in both front-end and back-end development.  At my current employer, I started as a systems engineer, creating, maintaining, and supporting reports and dashboards built with Oracle BI technologies(like OBIEE, ODI, and Oracle DB).  Later, I transitioned to a Tableau Developer, where I have been working ever since.  As the years went by, there was a fast-growing area in data science like AI/ML.  Naturally, I enrolled in a Data Science Certification from Harvard University to learn more about AI/ML.  After successfully completing my certification, I started to apply my newly gained knowledge by creating data models, organizing and analyzing large volumes of data, uncovering data patterns, and making data predictions using Python and R.  I feel lucky to have been exposed to data science libraries and tools like scipy, scikit-learn, NumPy, pandas, matplotlib, tensorflow, keras, jupyter-notebooks, etc.  This knowledge and experience has expanded my horizons and prospects for a career in a field I would never have imagined.  It has been a long journey to get to where I am today, but there is still so much to explore and learn.

Furthermore, I am a big fan of technology and data.  Once upon a time, I was into Java/C#/PHP/Ruby programming and even QA testing.  But aside from programming and working with data, I enjoy reading about new technologies; building computers; playing video games; retro modding; exploring the latest gadgets; and, a long, long time ago, swimming.
